Frequently asked questions

Everything about TG Analytics.

Is TG Analytics really free?
Yes. Released under the MIT License — free forever, no subscriptions, no feature gates, no ads. You can also build it yourself from the source code on GitHub.
Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored locally on your computer in ~/.tg_analytics/. The SQLite database, sessions, exports and logs never leave your machine. No telemetry, no third-party servers.
Can I track channels I don't own?
Yes. Click Add public channel and paste a @username or t.me/... link. The app resolves and tracks any public channel — perfect for competitor research and market analysis.
Why does the subscriber growth chart show only today?
Subscriber counts are not available historically — the app can only record them from the moment you start tracking. The chart will fill in over days and weeks. Posts, views, and reactions are fetched from Telegram's history immediately.
What is ER and how is it calculated?
ER (Engagement Rate) is the ratio of average post views to the number of subscribers, expressed as a percentage. In TG Analytics, ER is calculated for any selected period and also broken down by content type (text, photo, video, document).
How is this different from TGStat or Telemetr?
TG Analytics is a desktop app that stores all data locally on your machine — nothing is sent to any server. It is completely free and open source. TGStat and Telemetr are SaaS platforms that require upload of your data and typically charge for advanced features.
Can I export analytics reports?
Yes. You can export three formats: PDF report with charts and branding (great for clients), JSON dump with raw snapshots and posts, and CSV with raw post data for Excel.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows 10/11, macOS 11+, and modern Linux distributions (Ubuntu 22.04+ and similar). Prebuilt binaries are available on the GitHub Releases page.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after the initial sync. The app fetches fresh data from Telegram on a schedule (or on demand), but all charts, reports, and exports are generated locally from the cached database — no internet needed to view analytics.
What languages are supported in the interface?
The interface is available in 5 languages: English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese and German. You can switch languages in Settings — the change applies instantly.

About the developer

Hello! I'm a solo developer passionate about creating tools that solve real problems. TG Analytics was born out of a personal need — I wanted to see exactly how my channels were growing, but existing SaaS platforms required uploading my data to their servers.

So I built my own: local-first, private by design, free and open source. If it helps you — great. If you want more — try Telegram AutoPoster Pro, my commercial tool for publishing and outreach.
